The Quranic Propagation International Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine is implementing the plan.
Muntadhar al-Mansouri, director of the center, said 70 boys and girls who are talented in Quran memorization and recitation are taking part in the program.
They are representing 12 provinces of Iraq, Mansouri stated.
The program seeks to encourage the talented qaris and memorizers and enhance their Quranic skills, he stated.
It is being implemented under the supervision of the custodian of the holy shrine Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalay, he noted.
Mansouri added that a number of Quran experts from Iraq and other countries teach the lessons offered in different Quranic fields.
Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
